Convenient On-Site Care
In order to better diagnose and treat our patients, we offer several different types of on-site services. This includes laboratory services, intravenous fluids (IVs) and electrocardiograms (EKG)s.
If labs or blood work are required to help confirm your diagnosis, we are able to work with our partnered labs immediately, to get you the answers you need as fast as possible.
The most common labs we provide, in-house are:
- Strep tests
- Flu tests
- Pregnancy tests
- Fingerstick glucose
- Fecal occult blood
At Prime Med Urgent Care, we are able to test for tuberculosis (TB) on site with a simple, quick skin test.
TB can be present even in people who show no signs of symptoms. The CDC strongly recommends testing for anyone who have:
- Spent time with anyone who currently has TB
- Have a chronic medical condition that can weaken their immune system
- Visited or been born in a country where TB is common (most countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Easter Europe and Russia).
- Live or work in the U.S. where TB is common (prisons, homeless shelters)
- Use illegal drugs
If needed, our medical team can administer IV fluids, which can help replenish necessary electrolytes (sodium) and liquids that your body needs to survive.
An IV may be necessary if you are severely dehydrated and unable to take in enough oral fluids. Dehydration can be caused by many things, such as vomiting or diarrhea.
An EKG tests the heart’s electrical activity and can help our staff determine the cause of any chest pain. An EKG can also help our staff figure out the cause of any other underlying symptoms, including dizziness, heart palpitations or shortness of breath.
